How can this wonderful structure be delicate and immense at the same time?

John is really there
John wanted to put his hands directly on the Eiffel Tower. This is as close as you can get without attracting attention
Checking the map
Checking the map
Our tour guide was a constant source of reassurance. "Which way does this map go?" Just kidding, Michelle.

Or is it "Kinda dorky"?
My Picture Postcard
My Picture Postcard
Despite the fact that it is one of the most-known landmarks in the world, seeing it is still quite a thrill.
Michelle's man
Michelle's man
Michelle liked this little "Don't walk" man, and has a pose imitating him. It's on her own web site.

Where is Napoleon?
Where is Napoleon?
This is a game, like Where's Waldo. Can you find Napoleon? Phyllis, Michelle, and John went in search of him. This picture seems blurry because (a) John was shaking with cold, and (b) it was getting really dark.
Getting the perfect shot
Getting the perfect shot
I have no idea what Michelle was photographing. A cannon maybe.
I think we found him
I think we found him
By the time we actually found Napoleon Bonepart, he was already dead and buried. Where? Here, in the Les Invalides.
Honors
Honors
We'll probably honor people like Bill Clinton the same way - with grandiose buildings that are empty and cold.
Night scene
Night scene
OK, once again we apologize for the poor quality of this shot. However, we wanted to show that the Eiffel Tower is lit up at night and sometimes has a light show. We saw lights sparkle in a dynamic fast-changing pattern just a while ago, now a constant golden glow.
The American Diner
The American Diner
You all must realize that when we finished finding Napoleon, and finished looking for the correct Metro/RER station, and found our way back to our hotel area, our favorite restaurant was full, another restaurant that was highly recommended was full, and a third restaurant had a menu that did not appeal. Thus, we were forced into this diner, begun by a guy wanting an American breakfast. It's actually called "Breakfast in America."
Sunday Mass
Sunday Mass
Do not judge the faith of the French by the cold stone buildings. We attended Mass each Sunday and found the services beautifully done. We could even understand the Gospels in French (or at least recognize the story). I sneaked in a photo at the end of this Latin Mass.
Street scene
Street scene
As you can see, this was a scene repeated almost every hour of our stay in Paris. Narrow old cobblestone streets with buildings of 4, 5, and 6 stories. Sometimes dating from the 14th century.
Metro
Metro
The Metro was not Michelle's preferred method of travel, but John and Phyllis sometimes just needed a break. Here she is also checking for text messages on her cell phone.

It's a Sunday in the Mont Marte area of Paris, and we are climbing to the Sacré Couer. This was a very popular area, full of local color. Hey, I see those two tourists again.

Lunch
Lunch
This little shop had more character and charm than any. This guy was just friendly, his food was fantastic (the best sandwich in France was his "crocque monsieur"), and we just felt so cheery here. We should have gotten his name so we could tell him how much we enjoyed the little lunch. We had a similar sandwich in other places that were not as good.
